Many times, we think of arthritis as a disease that affects mostly elderly individuals; after all, most joint supplements usually target older men and women. Unfortunately, there are many faces of arthritis and its victims can be as young as 2yrs old. The month of July is a time used to raise awareness to Juvenile Arthritis, a musculoskeletal disorder which consists of more than 100 autoimmune and inflammatory conditions that develops in children ages 16 years and younger.
You may not know this, but juvenile arthritis is one of the most common childhood diseases in the United States affecting 294,000 children under the age of 18. Juvenile arthritis has many forms which can be damaging to children’s joints, bones, muscles, cartilage and many other connective tissues that can at times leave them debilitated. Juvenile arthritis is classified under three different categories: juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA), juvenile chronic arthritis (JCA), juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). The most common form in is JRA which can affect one joint or many.
Common Symptoms of Juvenile Arthritis include:
Pain, swelling, tenderness and stiffness of joints, causing limited range of motion
Joint contracture, which results from holding a painful a flexed position for an extended period
Damage to joint cartilage and bones that can lead to joint deformity and impairment
Altered growth of bone and joints leading to short stature
The primary goal in juvenile arthritis management is to control inflammation, help with pain relief, prevent joint damage, and maximize functional abilities. Overall treatment of children who develop juvenile arthritis varies depending on the form of arthritis; however, the general plan includes physical activity/therapy, education, proper health care (including eye and dental care), and proper nutrition.
At Youngevity, we always stress proper nutrition starting with the 90 essential nutrients and for children, this starts with Kids Toddy. Our Kids Toddy provides a full spectrum of essential nutrients in a tasty liquid form to support the development of kids. We know that it takes more than just diet for children to get the proper nutrients and supplementation is vital, especially in children suffering from juvenile arthritis who need essential nutrients the most. Additionally Cetyl Myristate, a fatty acid ester which has been clinically found to provide joint pain relief, can be found in Youngevity’s Ultimate CM Cream and New CM Gel Caps to help provide relief with joint pain discomfort.
This month let’s take time to get proper nutrients those who need it the most, our children!
Remember prevention is the key!

How are you using the Success from Home Magazine to help build you business?
I am giving it to everyone I know, taking it to salons, doctors offices, and other businesses as a gift for their patrons to read (my number inside of course) and mailed it to every chiropractor I could reach with tickets to see Dr. Wallach! This magazine is very powerful and the DVD inside does all the work!
Many people think that in order to be successful you need to develop down lines all over the country. What are your feelings on that and how much do you need to travel to grow your business?
We love to build locally – however, local to us is 4-5 hours so Denver to Kansas City, Tulsa OK to the Nebraska line, we are marrying groups and helping them get started right! Those are groups we drive to on a regular basis to support. As far as nationwide, we do many 3-way calls and a lot of Ustream video meetings to share the opportunity with people all over the nation. Each day we do 3-way calls with our long distance groups helping them bring on new CEO’s and then speakerphone meetings into their homes after they show the DVD. We also do Wednesday night weekly call – sharing the opportunity with people nationwide.
What is the most common objection you hear and how do you handle it?
The most common objection is usually “I’m not good at selling or I don’t have the money.” Our response is always, “we know how you feel, and we felt the same way, let us tell you what we found out!” The words Feel, Felt, Found are always effective. If you can share with people that felt the same way, you can overcome any objection they will give you.
When it comes to giving the business presentation, some people like larger groups, some prefer smaller. Does it make a difference to you? Which do you prefer?
Makes no difference… if they have a pulse – and if they can dream, we are sharing with them how to make those dreams a reality!
The Pitcocks represent everything that is so great about building an amazing Youngevity business. The ability to be their own boss, put family in front of all else, and have the freedom to really enjoy life. Thanks again to Dave and Barb for taking the time to answer a few questions.
