Flavonoids and Heart Health
Flavonoids from fruits and vegetables including tea and super fruits may enhance the function of the lining of blood vessels, according to new research from Australia.
A daily dose of Quercetin or Epicatechin, (both compounds in the Flavonoid family), led to improvements in endothelial function, a key marker of cardiovascular health, according to results of a new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
“Numerous studies have shown that acute and repetitive consumption of flavonoid-rich foods for up to four weeks can improve endothelial function in both subjects with coronary artery disease and healthy volunteers,” wrote the researchers, led by Professor Kevin Croft from the University of Western Australia.
Flavonoids can be split into a number of sub-classes, including anthocyanins found in berries, flavonols from a variety of fruit and vegetables, flavones from parsley and thyme, flavanones from citrus, isoflavones from soy, mono- and poly-meric flavonols like the catechins in tea, and proanthocanidins from berries, wine and chocolate.
Until Next Week,

Do You Have a Compelling Script?
What do you say when someone says, “Sorry, I'm not interested” ?
If you have a compelling script with stellar delivery, you will hardly ever hear those words. That's because you will actually be saying something interesting!
On the telephone, you have approximately 10 to 20 seconds to grab a person’s attention. This is not very much time to convey a whole lot of information. So here is what you can do - convey your energy, your confidence, and your excitement! Your words must reach out and immediately grab and hook their attention. From the moment they say, "Hello," your goal is to gain their attention so that they are hungry to hear more. If you don't hook them in the beginning, they will not want to speak with you. They will say, sorry, "I'm not interested," and worse case, they may hang up on you.
In order to hook this prospect, ask yourself: Whom are you calling? Why should they be interested? You're looking for hot buttons, those issues that are so important to them that when they come up, they stop in their tracks and listen. The point here is that when you are trying to hook someone, you have to have some sense of what's important to them. Ask yourself: What is the value that I currently bring to my team members and customers. How do they benefit? How do I make their lives easier, stress-free, happy, profitable etc? You may have to do some research and brainstorming here, but once you've determined that value lead with it.
Now you can try to recover from that “Sorry I'm not interested" response by asking, "Why do you say that?" (Say this gently, as though you are confused and really want the answer.) You can repeat back: "Not interested?" (Again, say this gently, as though you are confused.) This sometimes gets people to start talking and explain themselves. Bottom line, if everyone that you speak with says, "I'm not interested," you're not saying anything interesting.
